Batch Mode takes a queue of local GoPro clips through telemetry extraction, setup, preflight, and sequential export. Before you begin, open Batch Mode by selecting multiple clips together in a current desktop Chromium-based browser.
Choose a batch workflow
The "Choose Batch Workflow" screen appears as soon as you enter Batch Mode. Telemetry extraction can continue in the source queue while you choose one of these workflows:
- "Batch Template Export" applies one telemetry-overlay template to every ready source and creates one overlay video per source.
- "Batch Source Composite" uses each source video as the canvas background, places one or more template overlays above it, and creates one finished MP4 per source.
You can click "Change Workflow" later, but confirming that change discards the current workflow's template choices, overlay setup, and review state. The source videos remain in the queue.
Manage the source queue
The "Source" panel shows the number of ready and excluded files. Use its controls before exporting:
- Drag a row by its handle to change the preview and export order.
- Click a ready source name to preview that source in the selected workflow.
- Read the status chip to follow "queued," "extracting," "ready," "failed," "excluded," and export states.
- Use "Skip" to exclude a source without removing it. Use "Use" to include it again.
- Click the remove button marked "×" to remove a source. Removing the selected source requires confirmation.
- Click "+ Add Videos" to append more GoPro clips. Studio extracts their telemetry and adds them to the same queue.
- Look for the checkmark beside a source to confirm that it has been opened and reviewed in the current workflow.
A failed source is not included in the export count. Correct the source-file problem, remove the failed row, and add the clip again if you want Studio to retry its telemetry extraction.
If Studio detects chapters from the same GoPro recording, it identifies the chapter group but exports each chapter as a separate video.
"Exit Batch Mode" clears the queue and returns Studio to its starting state. You cannot change workflows, change source inclusion, or exit Batch Mode while a batch export is running.
Configure Batch Template Export
Use "Batch Template Export" (BTE) when you need one overlay-only video for each source.
- Select "Batch Template Export" on "Choose Batch Workflow."
- Click "Choose Template" on "Choose Overlay Template," then select the template to apply to every ready source.
- Wait for at least one source to show "ready," then click source rows to preview the template with each clip's telemetry.
- Use "Change Template" to select a different template for the entire batch.
- Use "Edit Template" when you need to change the selected template before export.
- Click "Return to Batch" after editing. If the working copy changed, choose whether to save it, discard it, or stay in the editor.
- Set the batch output choices in the "Export" panel.
- Click "EXPORT N VIDEOS," where
Nis the number of ready, included sources.
The BTE "Export" panel includes:
- "Export format": "PNG codec .mov (alpha)," "WebM (VP9/VP8 alpha)," "QuickTime Animation .mov (qtrle alpha)," or "MP4 (H.264, keyed background)."
- "MP4 key background": the solid color rendered behind an H.264 MP4 overlay so you can remove it with a keying effect later. This control appears only for MP4.
- "Export size": full, half, or quarter scale relative to the template canvas.
- "Preserve source timecode": copies available source timecode into MOV or MP4 outputs. This option is unavailable for WebM.
BTE output names use the source filename and template name, such as GX010203__Speed Strip.mov.
Configure Batch Source Composite
Use "Batch Source Composite" (BSC) when you need finished MP4 files with the telemetry graphics already placed over each GoPro video.
- Select "Batch Source Composite" on "Choose Batch Workflow."
- Wait for the first source to show "ready." Studio loads its video as the composite canvas.
- Click "Add Template Overlay" and select a telemetry template. Use "Add Another Overlay" if the composite needs more than one template.
- Set the canvas, template layout, and encoding choices that should apply to the complete batch.
- Use "Previous," "Next," or a ready source row to open each source.
- Adjust that source's framing and export range, then review the complete frame and timeline.
- Click "EXPORT N VIDEOS" after every included source is ready and the composite contains at least one template overlay.
The BSC workspace separates shared batch settings from per-source adjustments.
Shared canvas and template controls
- "Canvas" selects a standard output size. "Custom Size" sets dimensions that are not in the preset list.
- "Hide Bounds" or "Show Bounds" controls the editing outlines without changing the exported video.
- "Save As Template" saves the current template stack as a reusable custom template.
- "Template" selects the overlay you are adjusting when the composite contains more than one.
- "Lock Template" prevents accidental movement. "Duplicate," "Add Template," "Edit Template," and "Remove Template" manage the overlay stack.
- Template "X," "Y," "Scale," and "Align template" position the selected overlay on the shared canvas.
Per-source framing and range controls
- Source "X," "Y," and "Scale" position the current GoPro video.
- "Lock Source" prevents accidental movement.
- "Cover" fills the canvas and can crop part of the source. "Contain" keeps the full source frame visible and can leave unused canvas space.
- Rotation buttons set the source to 0, 90, 180, or 270 degrees.
- "Align source" provides centering and alignment operations.
- The timeline playhead previews the current source. Drag the "In point" and "Out point" handles to choose that source's export range.
- "Rebuild data graphics from range" restarts range-dependent and cumulative telemetry graphics at the selected in point.
Studio keeps each source's framing and range as you move through the queue. A different aspect ratio can still produce a preflight warning, so review every included source.
Encoding and compatibility controls
- "Codec" selects H.264 for broad compatibility or HEVC/H.265 for larger canvases and potentially smaller files when supported.
- "Target Mbps" sets the target bitrate. Leave "Auto" enabled to scale it from the canvas size and frame rate.
- "Advanced encoding options" contains profile, rate control, encoding priority, hardware acceleration, keyframe interval, and "Preserve source timecode."
- "Resize sampling" controls the scaling quality used by the source video and overlays.
- "Compatibility" reports source decode, video encode, save-path, and background-tab support for the current setup.
- "Reset" returns unlocked source and template transforms to their default positions. Locked transforms remain in place.
BSC always creates MP4 output. It copies compatible source audio, and output names use the source filename with a composite suffix, such as GX010203__composite.mp4.
Review the batch before export
After you click "EXPORT N VIDEOS," select the local output folder. Studio then opens "Review Batch Export" with:
- Counts for "Included sources," "User excluded," "Failed sources," "Outputs," and "Name conflicts."
- The planned filename for every output.
- Warnings for conditions such as a zero-duration range, a telemetry stream required by the template but missing from a source, or a BSC source aspect ratio that differs from the shared canvas.
- Existing files in the selected output folder that have the same planned names.
If output names conflict, choose one of these actions before the batch starts:
- "Overwrite All" permanently replaces every conflicting file.
- "Skip Existing" leaves each conflicting file unchanged and skips that batch item.
- "Auto-Rename" keeps the existing file and adds a number to the new output name.
- "Cancel" returns to Batch Mode without starting the export.
If there are no conflicts, click "Start Batch."
Control the running export
Keep Studio open while it renders the items in queue order. The progress dialog shows the current item's progress, overall batch progress, and a status marker for every output.
- "Skip Current" cancels the active item, removes its partial output, and continues with the next item.
- "Cancel Batch" asks for confirmation, discards the current partial output, and stops the remaining queue. Files completed earlier stay in the output folder.
- If folder permission is interrupted, "Grant Access" requests it again, "Skip Item" moves past the current item, and "Cancel Batch" stops the queue.
An individual export failure is recorded and the queue continues. When the run ends, "Batch Complete" or "Batch Canceled" lists the completed, failed, skipped, and canceled results.
- "Back to Batch" returns to the queue and preview.
- "Retry Failed" runs only the failed outputs again when failures are present.
- "Exit Batch Mode" clears the batch and returns Studio to its starting state.
