Overlay Export formats
PNG MOV and QuickTime Animation MOV are the highest-quality choices for exporting videos with transparent backgrounds for compatible finishing software (e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro or Davinci Resolve). WebM can preserve alpha with a smaller delivery-oriented container. H.264 MP4 cannot preserve transparency and will use force you to select a background color for the video, with the assumption you'll key it out in your video editor software.
Source Composite codecs
- H.264 provides the broadest MP4 playback and editing compatibility. Available profiles include Auto, High, Main, and Baseline.
- HEVC/H.265 can provide comparable quality at a lower bitrate, but browser encoder availability and downstream compatibility vary.
Quality controls
- "Target Mbps" sets the target video bitrate from 1 to 200 Mbps. Automatic mode chooses the application default; the initial displayed target is 25 Mbps.
- Variable rate control is recommended for most footage. Constant rate control is useful only when a workflow requires a steadier rate.
- "Encoding priority" offers a quality-oriented setting and a realtime setting. Use the "quality" setting for final output, and use "realtime" for testing purposes only.
- Hardware preference can use automatic selection, prefer hardware, or prefer software. Automatic is the normal starting point.
- Keyframe interval accepts 0.25 through 10 seconds. The default is 0.5 seconds.
- "Resize sampling" offers high, medium, low, and pixelated sampling. High is the recommended choice for scaled video; pixelated intentionally preserves hard nearest-neighbor edges.
