Template Editor View

The Template Editor view is the main Studio workspace for choosing a telemetry template, arranging its layers, changing its appearance, previewing its animation, and exporting the overlay by itself.

Open the Template Editor view

  1. Open "Studio".
  2. Select "Choose Clip", "Use Sample Clip", or "Choose Metadata from Account".
  3. Wait for the "Choose Template" step to appear.
  4. Select a template.

The Template Editor opens automatically when the template is ready. If you're in the Source Compositor view, select "Template Editor Mode" or press M to return.

Canvas and preview controls

Select a layer on the canvas to move, resize, or rotate it when that layer supports the action. Right-click the canvas to open these actions:

  • "Add Layer" opens the layer picker.
  • "Copy" copies the selected layer or layers.
  • "Show" or "Hide" changes visibility without deleting the selection.
  • "Send forward", "Send backward", "Send to back", and "Bring to front" change the selection's stack position.
  • "Center Layer", "Center Horizontally", "Center Vertically", "Center Horizontally b/w points", "Center Vertically b/w points", and "Center in rect" start the named positioning action.
  • "Create group from [number] layers" appears for a multi-selection.
  • "Delete" removes the selected layer or layers after confirmation.

If several layers overlap under the pointer, "Select layer" lists them so you can choose the intended layer.

At the bottom of the view:

  • "Play preview" and "Pause preview" start or stop the telemetry animation.
  • The timeline playhead moves the preview to a specific frame.
  • "Zoom" changes only the size of the on-screen preview. It doesn't change the template or export dimensions.

When you edit a nested template, "Return" and "Return to parent" take you back to the containing template. If Studio shows a browser compatibility warning, "More Info" explains the limitation and the recommended browser options.
