How to Use Preview Playback and the Timeline

Use the preview and timeline to check animation, choose an export range, and set the data range used by range-dependent graphics.

Control preview playback

  • Press Space to play or pause.
  • Drag the playhead to inspect a specific time.
  • Use the zoom controls to zoom in, zoom out, fit the preview, or show it at 100%.
  • In Source Composite, use the source preview to confirm that graphics align with the video.

Set the timeline range

  1. Move the playhead to the first required frame.
  2. set the in point with the range control or press I.
  3. Move the playhead to the final required frame.
  4. Set the out point or press O.
  5. Confirm the displayed duration.

When the timeline has focus, the Left or Right arrow keys nudge the playhead by five frames, while pressing Shift+Left or Shift+Right nudges the playhead by one frame.

Rebuild range-dependent graphics

Choose "Rebuild data graphics from range" after finalizing the in and out points when a template uses automatic min/max ranges, cumulative values, or range-relative paths. Rebuilding can change the scale or starting value so the graphic represents the selected segment rather than the complete clip.
